She sat dangling her legs over the edge of the island, staring off into the sea of clouds before her. She wore a light, blue dress draped loosely over her shoulders. Her diamond shaped ear twitched, noting the air felt different all of the sudden. She stood up and looked nervously around. Nothing out of the ordinary. Everything felt wrong again, just like when she was first pulled here, and that put her on edge. Her tail swung back and forth to mirror her anxiety. She clutched her hands in front of her and made her way hurriedly towards her tiny hut.

Then it began again. The area went dark, even though the sun above was still visible. Multicolored light arced across the ground, making her jump to avoid them. They coalesced into a sphere not far from her that then stretched upward before bursting, blinding the glaceon. A body lay in it’s wake. It seemed almost familiar to her, but not right at all. Sort of reminded her of a buizel, but strangely plain, and not quite the right colour. She stood back a few steps as he stood up.

“H-hi?” She ventured.

_ _ _

Meanwhile, on the other side of the multiverse; or perhaps a different dimension altogether, the creature that was soon to be misplaced was busy running for his life. High powered slugs whizzed by him while he half-ducked and half-fell around a corner, taking the chance to hop over the ledge to a level below before he slipped into a dark storage area. ‘Tch.. must have the whole compound after me by now. Royally botched this one up I did. Gates are sealed.. leaves only one choice to get out of here intact. …I hope.’ He grumbled a bit, the dark furred creature preparing his spell ritual. It wasn’t like you could just say “Hey presto” and open a rift in space-time, the very fabric of the universe itself. For now it seemed like his pursuers hadn’t found him out yet, so he concentrated on getting the spell set up as quickly as he could.

His grace period ran abruptly short, however, as the door burst open and a scouting pair entered in search. The creature gave a short curse and took a few shortcuts. It’d probably be alright…

But another slug whizzed by his head. He’d been found! A smoke grenade was tossed out while he ducked behind some boxes, not enough to really do anything but hamper and choke. They continued firing blindly, the bullets flying past and shredding the supplies around him. ‘Just a few more seconds..’ He growled under his breath, weaving the last complexities of the spell.

With a burst of light and a deafening crash the portal was ripped wide. At least large enough for him to slip through. Something was definitely wrong, and he knew it. It normally wasn’t loud when opening, not to mention there was wild energies crackling around the edges, drawing power from who knew where. There was no time to worry about that now. Either go through, or die. So he chose.

—

The energy sparkled and danced along the ground, shimmering in the half-light of the mocked night while the sphere coalesced, stretched out and then burst apart in brilliance. In the aftermath lay a creature that didn’t seem to belong, dark brown fur adorning his body with a thick, lengthy tail, small ears and a short muzzle. He was a river otter, at least by what some standards said. He was also a mess; clothing was singed and shredded in some places from near-misses in his escape.

He lay there for a few moments, unmoving, silent as if dead. But then he stirred with a sharp groan, ‘Bloody.. ow!’ He was sore all over, as if he’d been trampled over and then dumped in a blender. Something had definitely gone wrong. He rolled over slowly and tried to open his eyes, only to wince, ‘Ow, argh!’ The bright light of day had been restored to the area and blinded him after having been in a dark compound, one arm thrown wearily over his face to block the light out.
